On his facebook status this morning, my friend Rusty (who lives in DC) said "the sun is shining, the cherry trees are blooming, and the possibilities are endless" For some reason that stuck with me throughout the day.
He's right.
The possibilities are endless.
I, of course, have been thinking about Seth all day, too. He has turned out to be such an amazing guy. So amazing that it even floors me and I raised him to be amazing :)
Once again, the student far surpasses the teacher (I've done my job)
He got himself up at 5 o'clock this morning, got ready and headed to OKC with his church group to enter his first talent show. He has been practicing three or four hours a day for weeks for this. He knew he had it in the bag and he was right.
Because of his dedication and passion doors were opened today. One of the judges, a drummer himself, took time to single Seth out and talk to him. The man is a professor at the OK Central University - School of Rock.

He told Seth that he thought Seth was really good and was most impressed with how well Seth knew how to tune drums. He asked Seth how old he was and when he found out Seth is only sixteen he was even more impressed "you have a lot going for you to be only sixteen."

He gave Seth his card and told him he gives lessons privately or at the school.
After the show was over and everyone had preformed, trophies given out he came back to talk to Seth again. He wanted Seth to set his drums up again so they could play together. Seth said the man was incredible.
I think Seth is incredible.
He knows no fear. I believe that it is a part of what happens when you home school them correctly. He has never had to be intimidated by anyone. He has never had to live with peer pressure. He has been allowed to be who he is and to grow in strength of character without anyone telling him what he should or should not be (except me). Seth can talk to anyone. He is as comfortable with an adult or a professor as he is with kids his own age. That is due to his Dad taking him to work with professionals as an equal and exposing him to the world of musicians and music.
Looks like he may also have an opportunity to preform (audition) for a professor at ECU (local college) with the possibility of a scholarship.

Before I read your post I was thinking exactly that (the world is full of possibility)as we rode bikes today. It's so very true.
Seth is amazing and you are amazing for raising him to be amazing. Have I used the word amazing enough? :)
Way to go Seth! If you ever have the chance put up a video of you playing. I'd love to see it!
That is so, so cool. I'm excited for him. :)
