I am not, or hardly ever, easily bored. As a teenager, when people usually become bored, my Dad just would not put up with it. He always said "Bored people are boring people" and if you didn't have something to do he would surely find something for you.

But tonight I am restless.

Mark is in the studio and probably will be for several more hours. Television most of the time just makes me want to scream. I have a pretty good book that I am reading. Zoe just left. and yet, I am still restless.

Facebook didn't help. Nothing to do on Farm Town. Reading the local newspaper only takes minutes. ......

If I go in the house I will probably eat and I sure as heck don't need to do that, so, I guess I will bore you with my rattling.

We are creeping back up to normal July temperatures. Shoot. At least when it was 105 we didn't have mosquito problems. The weather channel predicts above 100 degrees for the next 5 days, at least.

My garden is still just lovely. The marigolds, zinnias, and sunflowers (all volunteer) have completely taken over the green beans. oh, well. they are so pretty. I am getting more cucumbers, squash, and tomatoes than we can eat, but, I'm trying my best :) Christi looked at me while I stood over the sink eating a tomato like an apple and said "Don't you have trouble with indigestion?" "yeah... what's your point?"

I would share with you if you weren't so far away :)

I hate restless nights.

My tomato plant has four little tomatoes. I'm so excited!

I'm not often bored. I don't usually get bored either. But occasional restlessness is normal. It's been so freaking hot there, and there's lots going on.

I'd be canning my head off, but I love canning. I'd make every kind of pickles I could and try to invent new ones.

Spaghetti sauce, chopped tomatoes, canned whole tomatoes, salsa,

Remember how good bread and butter pickles are with just bread and butter? We'd eat that for dinner. Bread and butter pickle sandwiches.

I have a question... you said WOW on my Farrah and MJ post. wow-I make a point or Wow i'm so judgemental?

When you say the marigolds, zinnias and sunflowers (all volunteer), what does "all volunteer" mean? Does it mean that you didn't actually plant any and they just came up on their own?
I'm a fan of grilled squash. Just cut them length wise and use some olive oil, salt and pepper and put 'em on the grill.
Last year you shared a recipe for cucumber dill dip...at least I think that's what it was. Could you either post it again or email it to me?

Jen, I planted zinnias in my garden three or four years ago and I've never had to replant them again. The marigolds and sunflowers I planted last year. What I do is when they are all dead and dry in the late fall I mow them with my mower deck high so it scatters them everywhere. I always put a layer of hay and leaves on the garden in the winter so the flower seeds are protected under it and they come back the next spring. If I ever want them gone I would have to pull them out, which I don't have the heart to do.

Cara, I don't really have enough tomatoes to can but too many to eat. If they keep on like they are now I will probably make juice out of some of them. Juice is the easiest thing to do.
I gave up a long time ago on making pickles.. they just don't ever work for me. I can make a mean squash pickle relish, but, no one but me will eat it. I've never tried bread and butter pickles. The Amish community just south of us makes them so good that I would just rather buy theirs.
I tell you what I love on bread and butter and that's a banana pepper sliced thin... yummy!

You guys are making me hungry. :)

My grandma always said, "Boredom is a state of mind." (Same gist as your dad.) Heh.

We all have those restless times. I've had a lot lately myself.
