I watched a movie last night by Deepa Metha The name of it is Water
The final film in the trilogy, Water (2005), is set in the 1930s and focuses upon the difficult lives of an impoverished group of widows living in an ashram. Water was nominated for the 2007 Academy Award for Best Foreign Language Film, making it Canada's first non-French-language film to receive a nomination in that category.
It was so good. Now, I will have to watch the first and second movies in the trilogy.
I have had these on my queue for a long time and have heard several other women say how important her work is. I'm glad I finally watched it. This film makes me very glad to be a woman in America.
