It is hot. Over one hundred degrees every day. Everything is dead or dying, the lawns are brown, all the new plants planted in the spring are not going to make it. I water the garden almost every day and it is still dying. The tomatoes are in the shade of a huge pecan tree so hopefully they will survive a while longer, hopefully long enough for us to have a few fresh tomatoes.

I think I probably picked the last of the yellow squash and cucumbers today, the plants are shriveling from heat stress.

I am lethargic and oh, so grumpy. Zoe acts as if we are punishing her because we don't go out to play anymore. Her Daddy takes her swimming in the evenings but it's just not the same as getting to go out to play.

two more months of this...

and, I promise this will be the last post I write whining about it.

The guys are doing an install about an hour away. I'm glad they have work and it is indoors.

We have two mini vacations planned, one for our anniversary to Tulsa and the other to Winstar World Casino for Seth's 18th birthday. I told him that if he wanted to celebrate his 18th with friends I would totally understand but he chose for us to all go to the casino together. It looks like an amazing place to visit, www.winstarworldcasino.com, even if we don't win a penny it will be fun. While in Tulsa we are going to the Oklahoma Aquarium, I am excited about that, too. My favorite room is the jelly fish room.

okay, I am going back to my chair, my book, and the AC in the house.

love you all

Have fun on both of your vacations! I'm sure it will be great. I'm glad Seth chose to spend his birthday with you. I hope you win lots of money! :)

I'm hoping we can plan something when I graduate. I really need some time away.

Oh man, that heat sounds miserable. We had our latest day of hitting 80 this past weekend. We're 81 today then right back to the 65/55 pattern.

I'm just glad you can get out of that heat. I often wonder how on earth my great grands managed with no AC.

Cara, up until I was pregnant with Levi (1987) I had never had AC. We had fans, sat outside in the shade, and took lots of cold showers.

I had avoided air conditioning because it messes with my sinuses so bad. I still don't sleep under the AC.
