I quit taking my blood pressure medicine. I was hoping that maybe some of these weird symptoms I have would go away if I did. I quit on Sunday so it has just been four days. My blood pressure has gone up but not too much and no where near a dangerous level. I check it twice a day to make sure. For the first time in I can't tell you how long I lay down last night and slept without medication, slept all night thru - well - at least until 5:30 when I had to get up and go pee but I went right back to sleep. The burning mouth seems to be a little better, at least yesterday and today I have been able to brush my teeth without it burning so bad that I get tears in my eyes. But, the main reason I wanted to test this is was I was so hoping that it would be the answer to my being so itchy. I thought it was dry skin at first but no matter how much lotion I use it doesn't help. The weather is warm and we have humidity again but still the itching. Benadryl doesn't even help. I am at my wits end.. it is driving me freaking insane. I am going to stay off the medication for another week and see what happens. If it doesn't get better I will start taking my BP meds and eliminate something else.

That must be really frustrating. Hope you can figure out what the itch is about.

I tried Gold Bond, it doesn't even help. But, I learned what I needed to know.... the symptoms got less and less as my BP went higher and higher, so, as soon as we can afford a doctor's visit I will go and have him change the prescription to Atenolol without the diuretic. According to my PDR the diuretic is what is causing the dry mouth and the itchy, prickly feeling on my skin.
