Bread maker...

My Mother made the best hot rolls you ever ate. I don't care where or what you have eaten before, hers were as good if not better. period.

So, I just never even attempted to learn how. I just left it up to her to do for all the holiday or special event gatherings in our family.

I did, for years, before three babies, make my own loaf bread and got very good at that. But, never hot rolls.

I quit making bread while the kids were small, it was just too much to keep up with. I always said that once they were grown I would start making my own again.

Well, that time is here.

I have determined in my heart that I WILL learn to make rolls as good as Mother's. I told Levi the other night that food as good as what he has been cooking for us deserves good bread, not store-bought rolls.

Since Mother died I have tried twice to make bread with her recipe without much success. This morning I woke up with new determination...

the bread is rising as I write. It smells heavenly or maybe brewery :)I love the smell of yeast.

I have a family package of chicken breast with ribs marinating in zesty Italian dressing to be put in the oven soon to slow bake. And, we will see how this attempt turns out. Still need to punch down, rest, shape and rise again....

fingers crossed.

Sounds delicious!

I've been using a bread machine and what I've found that makes a little difference is really beating the crap out of the dough. :) I take all my frustrations out on it.

I have yet to reach roll perfection. I have a dream!

it was ...okay... but it will get better. I found a website with some really good tips, it answered several questions I had. On the next batch I need to add a little more salt and a little less flour.

I WILL get this. (may gain 10 pounds in the process)
