In Kathleen Norris' book she wrote about her time with the Benedictine monks. One thing that really stuck with me was their philosophy of reminding yourself every day that you are going to die.
It helps keep your priorities straight.
This mornings video message at church was along the same lines (only with much more emotional hype)He talked about the "what ifs" of having only 30 days to live. A woman gave her testimony about having cancer and only a short time to live - very emotional.
But,over all the message was a good one, one that we should all take to heart.
Getting priorities straight, not falling into the trap of consumerism and being entangled with the acquisition of "stuff" and more stuff.
I'm all about keeping my life simple. I would love to be debt free, but, we just can't seem to get there no matter how hard we work towards it.
I don't have a problem with not getting caught up in the rat race most people live in.. going and doing and spending just are not important to me at all.
I found out a long time ago (after living in hell for half my life) that PEACE is worth everything. Peace of mind, peace in my home, peace in my marriage, peaceful children (they really don't need everything the world tells them they need). I think parents who run their kids to every class, every sport, every event are just crazy.
I appreciated the reminder in this mornings message - keep it simple, spend time with the people you love the most, remember what is really important TO YOU and the people closest to you, don't get caught up in the world's insanity, be at peace with God and yourself.
It's all good.

Thank-you for that reminder!
Well put!
Definitely true.
After having my life pulled out from under me in 2001 that lesson was well learned.
I may not live every single day to it's utmost expression of full ecstasy, but I am a much happier person now that I have learned the lesson of LIVE YOUR LIFE LIKE YOU COULD DIE TOMORROW.
