For the first time in a week, I ventured beyond our gate today. Not sure why I felt the need to do so because I just don't have a problem with staying home ... forever.
But, I did.
And, on the way home I vowed that I was going in the freakin' house and not come out until this effing ice is gone.
The highway was "ok", some icy spots but mostly clear, the roads in town reminded me of Montana, piles and clumps of dirty snow and ice along the curbs and blocking drive ways, icy ruts in the roadway, the medians almost impossible to navigate ... and the parking lots... you should have seen me hanging onto the van trying to just get to the sidewalk to go into Blockbuster, then all of us having to hold Emily up and steady across the Burger King parking lot. She and I both almost falling, slipping and sliding... I bet that was a sight to see.
I echo my daughters sentiments - all the way home she muttered "Stupid snow" "Stupid ice" "Hate it, hate it, hate it"
Us Okies, well, at least this Okie, does not take kindly to this kind of winter weather. I much prefer the 60 degrees it was last week, thank you very much.

Yeah ice is no fun! I had my first experience learning to drive a standard on ice. Bright idea, huh?!?
How come noone wants to come live with me?
Oh,Becky, I just don't know how you do it allll winter long in this stuff, it makes life so hard.
Snow's a bit better than ice, and we have about equal parts of both, so there is some good.
It's funny to read this...I live in PA and we haven't had much of a winter at all! Just the other day I said "I really want a good snowstorm!" As much as I may grumble and complain about shoveling snow, there's something to say when the seasons are clearly separated...so far it's just felt like a really long and dreary fall! Having snow in the winter and then seeing it melt makes spring that much more beautiful! I love seeing the seasons turn! BTW...I love reading your blog! (I'm one of Sandy's friends from PA)
anon... is this Jen?
That is typical Ohio winter weather, but for some reason this year we haven't gotten ANY of it! It snowed for the first time on Tuesday, and not a single flake even stuck. Weird, but I sure as hell ain't complaining!
Jennifer, Welcome!!
We normally don't have this kind of weather in Oklahoma or at least when we do have winter storms they are not this bad and don't (normally) last but a few days.
My husband grew up in Ohio and he hated the winters there.
Aola,
Yes, the anonymous comment was from me...Jen... My parents are neighbors with Sandy's grandparents. We spent every summer together! Apparently you've heard about me...
